Dr. L. M. Waghmare completed Bachelor of Instrumentation Engineering in 1986, Masters of Instrumentation Engineering in 1991 (both from SGGS Institute of Engineering and Technology, Nanded) and Ph. D. in 2001 (from IIT, Roorkee). He is member of IEEE, Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India), Member of IETE (India) and a life member of ISTE. He is recipient of K S Krishnan Award instituted by Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (IETE), (2004) for the best system oriented research paper (published in the IETE Research Journal) and Certificate of Excellent Performance is awarded by the Regional office of Director of Technical Education, Aurangabad.
Before joining as Dean (Science and Technology) of this university (29- July-2019), He worked as Director, SGGS Institute of Engineering and Technology, Nanded (21.06.2012 - 22.04.2018) and Dean (Adhoc), faculty of Engineering and Technology at SRTMU, Nanded.
He was working as Professor of Instrumentation Engineering at SGGS Institute of Engineering and technology from July 2001. Prior to this he was Assistant Professor (1993 to 2001) and Lecturer (1986 to 1993) at the same department.
He also worked in various capacities such as Head of Department, Dean (R and D), Dean (Academics), Chairman (Central Purchase Committee), Coordinator of IQAC, Coordinator for NAAC preparation and submission of SSR at SGGS IE&T, Nanded. In addition to this, he was Member Secretary, Board of Management (BoM) of the Institute, Member (Faculty Representative), BoM of the Institute, President of SGGS Engineers Alumni Association, Vice President of SGGS Engineers Alumni Association of the institute.
During his tenure of Director of the institute, Extension of autonomy to the institute by UGC and two cycles of NBA accreditation of eligible UG and PG programs took place and program got accredited.
Eleven students have completed Ph.D. under his guidance and research work of eight Ph.D. research scholars is in progress. He also supervises students for M.Tech. for dissertation work. He has also conducted several short duration Faculty development programs at SGGSIE&T, Nanded. He has to his credit one book, three book chapter, publications of 55+ papers in International Journal and 60+ papers in National and International Conference. His subjects of interest include Control system, Process control, Artificial Intelligence in process control, image processing etc.
He visited Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia (2013), City College, University of New York (USA), Oakland University, Michigan (USA), San Jose State University, California (USA) (2015) for signing MoU and discussions with academia for collaborative research, student and faculty exchange program.
He visited Austria (2005), China (2012), Malaysia (2013), Singapore (2014), Dubai (2016), for presenting papers, attending workshop and discussions with academia.
Two alumni meets of SGGS Engineers’ Alumni Association were organized and conducted at New Jersey (East Coast) and San Jose (West Coast) in USA along with a team of faculty members during July 08 -July 23, 2015 and at Dubai (2016). He was instrumental in formation of North America Chapter (USA) of alumni association and organizing alumni meets in metro cities in India.
He has also successfully completed the research project, sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and NRB (DRDO), New Delhi. He worked as resource person for many CEPs, attended many short term courses and participated in workshop/conferences organized by different national/international agencies.
He was instrumental in setting up industry sponsored laboratories, starting a new PG programmes (M.Tech.) in institute, industry advisory panel, and credit transfer scheme with many institutes, one semester project in industry, foreign language etc courses with major focus on Industrial participation in teaching and learning process. He was instrumental in creation of ecosystem for research, establishing Centre of Excellence in Signal and Image Processing with funding from Govt. of India, collaborations with foreign universities. Also in initiating different schemes like IRSS, PIDA, events like zenith, graduation day, research symposium etc for students, research scholars and faculty.
He worked on various committees formed by NBA/AICTE/DTE/UGC/Universities. He worked on the Statutory Authorities/forums of a university such as Board of Studies, Academic Council, Management Council or Executive Council of Board of Management, Senate, etc of various universities.
