Summary of Academic Career

I have worked as a teacher, researcher and academic administrator in a professional career of 10 years. After joining the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, Maharashtra, as an assistant professor in the School of Earth Sciences (January 2009 to till date ).  Also, I have been worked as a Research Associate in the Department of Environmental Science, University of Pune, India for the period of 2007 – 09. As a research associate, I was engaged in the departmental research project, research and teaching activities. I have completed master degree in Environmental Science from Department of Environmental Science, University of Pune in the year 2003. I have carried out my doctoral research on the topic “Assessment of Groundwater Geochemistry with special reference to impact of intensive agricultural practices from part of Kadava River Basin, District Nashik, Maharashtra.”  During my doctoral work, I have performed several field surveys in the study area and laboratory analysis of groundwater and soil samples. I have research experience in the field of hydrology and published 33 research articles in national and international peer reviewed journals, 2 book chapters and 8 communicated articles. Also, I have presented my work in 16 national and 2 international conferences/seminars. I am a life member of Indian Science Congress Association, Current science Journal and Editorial board member of Horizon Research Publishing, USA. Consequently, I have worked as a reviewer for International peer reviewed journals such as Arabian Journal of Geosciences, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Applied Water Science, Human and Ecological Risk assessment, Desalination and Water treatement, Research Journal of Environmental Sciences, etc. In addition, throughout my academic carrier, I have delivered several guest lectures, public talks and worked as an expert in science competition at regional and state levels.

My research interest mainly includes hydrological science to understand contaminant transport phenomenon; physical, hydrogeochemistry; fluoride and nitrate pollution; surface water–groundwater interaction; global warming and recent aspects in drought and disaster management. I have applied numerous techniques such as multivariate statistical analysis, GIS-based IDW technique, Neural Network modelling, WQI etc. to know the hydrochemical composition and ascertain the groundwater potability for drinking and irrigation. Presently, I am actively engaged in developing methodologies to determine the suitability of surface and groundwater for domestic and irrigation purpose to enhance community resilience to address growing water demands in water stress regions of Maharashtra. My research specially emphasizes on water-agriculture interaction through identifying anthropogenic impacts on groundwater from Nanded and Nashik District of Maharashtra, and evaluating water appropriateness for social interest.

I have successfully completed a project “Assessment of groundwater quality with special reference to impact of agricultural practices from Nanded Tehsil, District Nanded, Maharashtra” which was sponsored by University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, Govt. of India (Amount: Rs 12,20,800). The project highlights on impact of irrigation practices on groundwater quality and ascertain the suitability for drinking and irrigation. Groundwater quality assessment was undertaken in Nanded, a part of South East Deccan Volcanic Province in Maharashtra, India, with a view to assess the suitability of groundwater resources for drinking and irrigation purpose. I have been carried out minor research project on “Development of Alternative Approach towards the Disaster Mitigation in Society” funded by Extension Activities Scheme under the UGC XII Plan w.e.f. 4th July 2014, Sanctioned Amount is Rs 4,00,000. The brief objectives of the project were 1) to identify the local hazards & their potential impacts on society, 2) to promote the disaster mitigation strategies 3) To encourage the Govt./ Pvt. Institutes and NGO’s for efficient disaster management  Also, I have been successfully completed a minor research project on “Environmental Education and Awareness Programmes in Educational Institutes in Nanded and Adjoining Area” funded by Extension Activities Scheme under the UGC XII Plan w.e.f. 4th July 2014, Sanctioned Amount: Rs 3,70,000.

Also, I have been successfully completed a minor research project on “Environmental Education and Awareness Programmes in Educational Institutes in Nanded and Adjoining Area” funded by Extension Activities Scheme The objectives of the projects are 1) To promote awareness of Environmental education and natural resources in the Society 2) To encourage the understanding & Appreciation on Environment and related issues. 3) To Create Awareness among School and College students for betterment of Environmental status 4) To disseminate the information through Workshop / Seminar / Audiovisuals / Lectures etc. The outcomes of the extension activity projects influenced younger minds and inculcated amongst them the zeal to undertake new challenges in natural resource management and research and teaching activities.
