Since last fourteen years the Department of N.S.S. of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University has been in operation. Presently Prof..Dr.D.D.Pawar is working as Programme Co-ordinator under the dynamic guidance of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Dr.S.B.Nimse.

At present the N. S .S. students strength is 13500. The N. S. S. has been implemented in 105 affiliated colleges with 175 units. The N. S. S. open unit has also been started during 1997-98 at Nanded for utilizing the service of the senior citizens for betterment of the people in slums and adopted villages.

Extension of services to the society is the third dimension of higher education in addition to teaching & research. The University N. S. S. dept. is trying to link higher education with the socio economic conditions of the society and hence the activities are undertaken for the welfare of the weaker sections of the society. The University has undertaken multifarious activities in N.S.S . for the development of the communities. Many programmes have been planned and executed by the N. S. S. units and thus they have made effective impact on the society.
